Before today, we had not received an appreciable amount of snow. We had both mentioned that it seemed like spring was here to stay. But no. At the very very end of the season (March 21 – the second day of spring), the snowman strikes. Only 5-6 inches and the temperature stayed above freezing but still! It has been a rough spring for the early spring flowers. Initial predictions had the cherry blossoms in full bloom by this time. Then there was some cold weather that put the date back into April. Our magnolia tree has opened some buds which died from the frost and then tried again. More buds are coming but the striking blossom display we are used to will have to wait for another spring.
